George Carlin

June 25th, 2008 · 3 Comments

George Carlin was a funny guy, and I’m sorry to see him go.  But as an interesting side note he believed in paying his debts.  He owed the IRS $3m, and worked to pay it off. Amazing.  Here’s an article with his quote about it.  It took him 18-20 years to pay it off and [...]

Congrats Celtics!

June 18th, 2008 · 3 Comments

The Celtics won the NBA Championships.  I have to say  I cheered for them because I hate the Lakers. I couldn’t stand them when I lived in LA and still can’t.  Too much me, me, me.
Anyway, I was very impressed with reading about the smart financial moves by the management of the Boston Celtics.  The [...]

Night Owl or Morning Lark

June 17th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I had to post this article because I was immediately taken by it.  I am dying for my DH to try it, doubt he will, but would love for him to do it.  He is a terrible night owl, last night we went to bed at 1 am and were up at 7:30am.  Not a [...]

12 Necessities or Wants?

June 13th, 2008 · 8 Comments

This article on Yahoo questions these 12 new necessities above the stereotyped 4 wall - food, shelter, clothes, and water, although I consider transportation the 4th wall.  The article suggests that these 12 items are ”entitlements” or ”wants” and should be scaled back.  The article suggests that a simpler lifestyle is better.  In some ways  I agree, [...]

SATC: A Review - HAS SPOILERS!

June 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Saw the movie last night and I loved it personally.  Yeah, it wasn’t about clothes, it wasn’t about money, it was about life, love, and aging.  How can you not love it?  All those reviewers, most have gotta be men.  They called it a clothes show.  WRONG.  I didn’t even notice the clothes, I, and [...]

Fun Night Out

May 25th, 2008 · No Comments

I just have to add that I had a fantastic night out with DH.  We went to Film Night with the Boston Pops.  We bought the tickets on Craigslist and it was awesome.
I am a huge Indiana Jones Fan and I’m dying to see the movie, probably tomorrow.

Sex and the City - Financial Reality Check

May 24th, 2008 · 10 Comments

I am such a HUGE Sex and the City Fan.  I have no idea why. I know there are many, many financial discrepancies in the show, but I still love it. I can’t wait for the movie to come out.   So what’s real about it and what’s not?
Reality is that Carrie the main character loves [...]

Thanks to all guest posters. Sorry about the sporadic posting recently but now I’m free again from responsibility.
Anyway Jim @ My Debt Blog tagged me for posting a 6 word Six Word Memoir.  I hadn’t had a six word thing until I read this on a message board.  And it fits perfectly.
Comparison is the Death of Contentment
What [...]

Having Priorities

April 26th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Are luxury items worth it?  I say yes.  For example, traveling is a luxury item, granted one many people enjoy, but not necessary for living.  Or a new car purchase versus a used car purchase.  Do we really need these items to live?  No.  But they are enjoyable and bring pleasure to our lives.  [...]

Cheap Movie Rentals?

April 21st, 2008 · 14 Comments

Do you have blockbuster or netflix?  Do you like it?  Is it worth the $5, $10, and $20/month?  Do you watch enough movies a month to make it worthwhile?
I’ve found that we don’t watch a lot of movies.  Our best bet for movie rentals is Redbox, other than the library of course.  It’s usually found [...]
