Third post today I must be on a roll. Actually this is in preparement for the long weekend, I’m praying to be able to go away for the weekend and while it might cost a lot (gas for driving) it’ll be well worth it.
So this article caught my eye in USA Today about high gas [...]

Give up the lead foot…
June 23rd, 2008 · 7 Comments
As we all know, driving cautiously without much breaking and accelerating much saves a ton on gas. People right now are trying to conserve gas as much as possible with it costing $4/gallon+. However a new reason has occurred to stop speeding when you drive.
An article from MSN states that in GA, a new fee [...]
Price Point - $4
June 8th, 2008 · 6 Comments
I love reading this article in the Washington Post. It says the price point for Americans thinking rationally is $4/gallon of gas. It states that at $3/gallon people barely noticed. They didn’t change a thing. Suddenly $4/gallon has appeared and things are changing quickly.
Mass transit usage is at a 50 year high. I wonder what [...]
More repercussions to high oil

It appears that GM is downsizing their truck and SUV market here. They are closing 4 plants within North America which make trucks and SUVs. The company is also laying off 8,350 workers in North America.
Short term this will hurt many families, but long term it will mean less jobs in America and perhaps more [...]

The recession car
May 16th, 2008 · 2 Comments
So to follow up the smart car, I have to admit something now, DH and I have completely stopped looking at cars. We made a very conscious decision that even as our finances are getting better in someways, rising gas prices make bigger cars undesirable.

I love saving money and I enjoy recycling because it’s good for the environment and better for the pocketbook long term. However, here’s an article about the safety of the smart car.
I have to say I love the smart car and would love to drive one. However, I really question it’s feasibility of driving it [...]
Living with one car?
May 6th, 2008 · 5 Comments
An interesting article at MSN about “Could you get by with one car?” It discusses how many people are moving towards the old trend of one car per family. Rising gas prices and increasing congestion is what is driving many people to reconsider taking public transit and whether a second car is really necessary.
Truth is that [...]
Sunk Costs examined…
April 7th, 2008 · 3 Comments
The follow-up to what happened to our Ford Focus made me think about the idea of Sunk Costs. What is a sunk cost? It is a cost which has been incurred but cannot be recovered. Basically all previously made decisions which cannot be changed. In most economic cases, sunk costs should not be considered when [...]

Fix or Repair Daily? (FORD)
April 3rd, 2008 · 7 Comments
Laughingly our Ford Focus is back in the shop. Unfortunately DH decided to drive it to work and it died on the way to class. We think it’s the alternator, since the battery is relatively new. However last month we spent $1200 in repairs on the Focus and now we’re going to spend more.
So when [...]

Car Dealership for Repairs
March 4th, 2008 · 2 Comments
So today we decided to drop off our Ford Focus at the dealership to have the water pump repaired and the timing belt replaced. This is first time we’ve gone to a dealership for any major work.
We decided to do so because the difference between a dealership and a mechanic was minimal. I used [...]
