Border’s Steal of a Deal

November 13th, 2009 · 7 Comments · Frugal, coupons

This weekend is a steal of a deal to buy one book at Border’s.

There is a 30% off Border’s Coupon off one item.

Plus all Border’s Members get $5 in Border’s Bucks off to boot! Do you know what that means?

The book I wanted is the Sears Baby Book $21.99.  With the 30% off it’s $15.39 – $5 off and I’m going to pay $10.39 + tax for a new book.  On amazon it’s $14.39 new and $6.75 used + shipping.

So go print off the 30% off coupon and snag the $5 coupon from being a Border’s Rewards member!

Having purchased a number of baby books – I recommend you take it out of the library, start reading it and then if you agree with the premise/think you’ll use it a lot then buy it. I didn’t end up finding Dr. Sears’ book to be very useful, but What to Expect the First Year was invaluable for me. (Even though I hated What to Expect While You Are Expecting.) I still reference it about once a week – usually for illness information and my daughter is almost a year old. I stopped looking at Dr. Sears in February.

I’m so glad I didn’t buy The Baby Whisperer, the No Sleep Solution and a host of others – I checked them out, some of them had good tips, but ultimately, I thought I got what I needed from them. I did buy Happy Baby Healthy Sleep and Solving Your Child’s Sleep Solution. I was open to all the different theories of sleep, but it would have been a lot of $ and a lot of extra space with all those books too. And The Wonder Weeks is definitely not worth purchasing, but worth a quick read.

I agree with Megan. Go to the library, then buy the books you think you will use. I have used Happy Baby Health Sleep Habits tons since I now I have two kids.

There is also a breastfeeding book that you should definitely read before the baby comes. I can’t remember the name of it right now, but when I get home from work I will let you know what it is.

I have bought one book baby bargains new edition, exactly the same way. For $6 new because of a 30% off coupon and $5 borders rewards coupon.

I already borrowed a ton of books from the library and I liked the Dr. Sears. I rarely buy books, I’m a huge fan of the library.

The breastfeeding book that I mentioned earlier is called “So That’s what They’re for!” It was a great book and I suggest reading it before you have the baby!

I recommend Dr. Sears. Good deal with the book.

Don’t you love it when you can piggyback coupons and savings and wind up with a spectacular deal?

No “baby book” info from me–I got all of my kids when they were walking, talking, and (mostly) toilet trained!

Kristy I am going to borrow it from the library!

And I like Dr Sears too.

Grace I love the fact I managed to piggyback my coupons and get it for more than 50% off.
