Weekly Roundup and Carnival

February 20th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Carnival of Personal Finance

This week I participated again in a ton of carnivals.

Here are some posts I found interesting

  • Nickel ask why people rent out rooms.  I responded because while we have a roommate, we don’t need one and we’re going to ask him to move out.  But sometimes there is more than money involved.
  • LazyMan talks about Renting versus Buying.  I think we made a mistake buying because we could have been renting for less, not the same size but something tiny!
  • Cleverdude talks about needing an EF.  I think an EF should be for job loss and death.  Not for things like car repairs, home repairs, etc.  Shouldn’t those things be planned?
  • ChickyFinance blames Suze Orman for $30k in debt.  Um, I don’t think so babe!   Suze said put student expenses on a CC if you can’t get a loan.  What’s the difference between student loans and charging your tuition on a CC?  Second owning the IRS $5k because Suze says don’t give them a loan and get a big refund is common sense.  BUT she never said owe the IRS $5k.

Sigh.  Have a good weekend.
