Weekly Roundup and Carnivals

January 30th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Carnival of Money Hacks, Carnival of Personal Finance, Roundup

The winner of last week’s giveaway Coming Up Short is One Frugal Girl.  And I’m reviewing, giving away this week Depression Economics.  Leave a comment for a chance to win.  Also I wrote a guest post for Simply Forties called “the loose budget“.  Head on over to check it out.  I was also mentioned on the MSN Smart Spending Blog talking about Family Money. These are some of the carnivals I participated in.

These are some posts I found cool.

  • J. Money at Budgets are crazy listed people’s wierdest jobs ever.  I was the Cutco Knife salesman.
  • Jim at Blueprint for Finances gives us a Life Lock Review. I’ve been really curious about them since I always see the ad on tv.
  • Common Cents Approach says “Paying off your mortgage is a no-brainer“.  I would say it’s only a no brainer if you are saving $16.5k into a 401k and $5k into an IRA first, and have a diversified net worth of more than home equity.
  • My Frugal Front Porch gives us tips on “How to save while grocery shopping.”  I’m always looking for tips to keep my groceries down.
  • Big Cajun Man talks about “Sometimes it’s better to be lucky.”  I agree 100%.
  • Out of Debt Christian says “Be a better bargainer“.  Americans are terrible bargainer compared to the rest of the world because we don’t do it in stores.  Personally I like it that way.  Bargaining in stores I think would be very disruptive.  But I’m not above asking for a discount politely!

Have a great weekend!
