I just finished watching the debate and I laughed over the irony. AIG spent $440k on a vacation celebrating their GOVERNMENT BAILOUT one week after it came through! They took their top executives on a CELEBRATORY vacation!
So why did I laugh? Well Barack Obama said the money should be returned and the executives should be fired. And John McCain did not disagree. Well what the heck happened and why should these executives be allowed to take our money and run? And we were going to do the $700B bailout without regulating executive compensation?
No regulation. I am okay with bailouts but where’s the regulations and laying down the law? Geez, other socialistic countries put down strict rules, and yes it doesn’t mesh with capitalism. But if we are going to act like a “Big” government then we should do it 100%.
Why are we bailing out companies, when lots of US citizens don’t want to, and those who don’t aren’t happy with the methods used to bailout companies? I mean you are ruining capitalism and not fully implementing socialism. We’re trying to make everyone happy but it’s not working. Washington isn’t fully committing. If they want us to be capitalists fine, no help. But help without rules is not good, as I guess shown in less than 4 weeks.
By the way I still believe healthcare is a right, not a responsibility.

Oh to be a fly on the wall at that discussion. I bet (hope!) somebody skipped it because it was such an incredibly stupid idea.
