Wow, an overwhelming number of people are saying Yes to bringing food into the movie theater. I guess watching a movie on the big screen wouldn’t be the same without some munchies.
I admit to bringing in food. It depends on the time of day we’re catching the movie honestly. If it’s after dinner, I’m usually to stuffed to care. But my biggest thing is bringing in some water. Although most theaters I go to don’t care, especially since they have an ice cream store right next door and most people walk in with a cone.
Thanks again for participating!

I used to work at a movie theater and I know food at the theaters is really expensive but the only part of the ticket price the theater gets is 25 cents. Thats it. The rest of the profit is from the concessions. That is why they are so high, so think about the people who work at the theater when you sneak stuff in.

But then why are they letting people walk in with ice cream from Coldstone’s next door? Hiding food okay put up a sign, but even the employees of the ice cream store seem to think it’s okay.

We generally don’t bring in food, but we also generally don’t eat during the movie. I often pack a water bottle for after (it may go in my purse so it won’t get hot in the car).
Thing is, if I eat or drink during a movie….I’ll have to visit the bathroom. Something about the theater and overall experience that shortens my bladder-time.

I always bring in water too–the little cups they give you are way too small to last an hour and a half +, plus they are flimsy and easy to spill in a dark theater. If any of the employees gives me guff for it, i say I need it to take a pill (this actually was true the first time I said it…). Lying? yes. but it’s not costing the theater anything–water is free! And i use a reusable water bottle, so it’s not like i’m leaving trash behind.
