Okay I just came back from a weekend trip and I decided I would look at my expenses. We went away for the weekend to Montreal specifically to see Jack Johnson. Yes I love him. My DH laughs at the irony of Jack Johnson’s song “Better Together” when he talks about sitting underneath a mango tree. How many people have done that?
Anyway back to our trip, the US Dollar really is doing terribly. It made everything ridiculously expensive, when only 5 years ago it was 60 cents US to 1 Canadian Dollar and the costs of everything was about equitable. We went for 4 days and had a blast anyway.
Well we spent $206 on dog boarding, $94 gas round trip - with a 30/31 mpg freeway driving (yes we drive 80 mph) and 28 mpg city driving, $162 on concert tickets to Jack Johnson, and $293 on 3 nights hotel mostly using priceline but taxes in Canada on hotels are high. We also spent I’m going to assume $200 on eating out during the weekend, because we took out $100 in cash and spent $90 and $110 on the CC.
Not a bad weekend and honestly I had a blast.
