It took about 15 minutes to walk through the house and take pictures. Just decided to do it in case. And then backed it up and threw it in the fire safe.

Good list!
How much time did it take you to inventory and record all that?

LOL, 2 digital cameras, one bought free and the other bought for $100, one desktop very, very old (2000), 2 laptops bought each for $400 3+ years ago, 2 used ipods bought for less than cost and that's it. Total is $2k maybe to replace.

What, no digital camera, desktop or laptop computers, stereos or MP3 players??

Besides those ommissions, you've made a great inventory for anyone who wants to break into your house. Better keep your identity secret!

I try to live like a minimalist to save money, but it's hard when you are married w/ 2 kids. I think it's important for people to evaluate the cost of the items in their house. This will give a realistic basis for renter's insurance. Most people don't need $65,000 worth of renter's insurance, so you shouldn't pay for a policy like that. You should have a policy that fits what you own.

Good post! Hey, I was wondering if we could exchange links. I have a finance blog for military members. Let me know, thanks.
