Money Magazine interviewed Suze Orman in an article. Very neat. One thing is Suze is switching out of Index funds into Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), which are basically the same thing except they trade like stocks and have more diversity. DH and I personally own a bunch of ETFs because you can tailor it better to fit your own personally needs. So I agree they can be better investment vehicles but you have to put larger chunks of money in like stocks.
The rest of the interview is pretty much what she always says about variable annuities and investing. However, she makes a good point about how to find a financial advisor. If you are in debt find one that sets up a plan to get you out of debt before you start investing. Many probably are trying to get you to buy investments so they make money rather than what is in a person’s best interest.
The last question about her advice being simple? It is. But like many financial book authors, it’s just helping those in trouble. There are also some cute videos at the end.
