Paul Newman - Mr. Nice Guy

June 11th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Charity, gifts

Paul Newman is a very nice person.  I hope he’ll survive his battle with cancer.  Recently it was revealed over a 2 year period 2005-2007, Mr. Newman donated his entire stake of ownership of Newman’s Own, to his own foundation, Newman’s Own Charity.  Estimated to be worth $120 Million.

Also Newman’s Own has been donating it’s royalties to charity as well.  One of the reasons why I love their stuff.  They’ve given away about $200 million since the start.

What a nice guy.  Can’t say enough about his generosity.  Simply fabulous.

Not too terribly far from where I live is Kenyon College where Paul and Joanne Woodward met while attending school. It’s in the small and at that time remotely located village of Gambier, OH.

The school is one of the better kept secrets to the outside world regarding it’s theater department.

Both Paul and Joanne have been very benevolent to the school.

The complimentary comments regarding the couple have always outstripped the bad by a wide margin over the years. That says something for two people who are in the public light all the time.

Even if this is not good new regarding his health, I’m sure Mr. Newman is assured that he will be rewarded for being a good guy all these years.
