Where’s my rebate?

I’m a bit confused and skeptical about this tax rebate. I filed our taxes for 2007 by mail but recevied our refund through direct deposit. Therefore I thought we’d have already received our rebate for 2008. However nothing has happened and when I checked the IRS website for it, it said unable to process.

So I’m a bit baffled. And yep I spent my rebate. What’d I spend it on? Mostly maintaining our cars. DH’s car needed a lot of work in March/April, and I spent $500 doing some work on my car which I had postponed like replacing bulbs, etc. Not a huge deal, but just little things.

Anyone got their rebate? Or ideas of when it’s coming?

when you get it depends on the last digit of your SS#. I expect mine tomorrow

you can check out my blog for details. also in the irs website, if you filed jointly, you have to use the primary’s SS#. in my case, my DH’s. hope this helps

Mine was showing as pending when I got up and checked my account on Wednesday morning. I e-filed and my SSI ends with 68.

No rebate for me yet, hope it shows up soon. I too had some car repairs, $300 so this money would help replace that in the EF. Checked the IRS website and they told me by May 9 so we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s there Friday.

I was getting sceptical too because they had supposedly started early and I hadn’t seen mine….

but today it came!

Another thing you can do is change the number of exemptions. I was checking it for a friend of mine and she told me she put 4 but the system returned no information.

When we tried again with 3 it gave her a date. Just try changing the number….or wait a few more days.

Still nothing. I had read they were sending them out early especially for direct deposit by May 2nd. Oh well. I guess we’ll just keep on waiting. It just sucks to be hoping for something.

Direct deposits will not be complete until May 16th. I just checked and mine is scheduled for next week on Wednesday. I can’t wait!

Rrggg…I haven’t received my yet either. And if they hadn’t told me that they were coming early I wouldn’t be so anxious to get them.

I got mine yesterday, right on schedule. You can’t check your status at the IRS website until AFTER your scheduled delivery date has passed, otherwise you’ll just get the “unable to process” message. So your date (based on the last 2 digits of the primary filer’s SS#, and how early you filed your tax return, and whether you got your refund with direct deposit) must not have come yet. Check out the IRS charts for which exact date your refund is supposed to be in by - mine came exactly on that date.
